Summary

Dairy production is a preferred livelihood option for many smallholder and landless farmers in Bangladesh and has good growth potential as current production and consumption levels are low. Many micro-credit clients choose dairy production as it provides regular income and capital growth (calves). As an enterprise it does not interfere with other income earning opportunities, particularly daily wage labour. Smallholder dairy production however, faces a number of constraints.

This project has resulted in the production of leaflets and fact-sheets which have a wider relevance than the main target species.
